Workshop Description
The Trauma-Informed Practice training goes much deeper into the’ how’. This is a 6.5-hour immersive experience designed to support reflexology therapists to apply trauma-informed principles in real sessions. We take a deep dive into the six guiding principles of Trauma Informed Practice: Safety, trust, choice, empowerment, collaboration and respect, and how we can implement these into our practice and everyday lives.
You will learn about the Window of Tolerance, the Hand Model of the Brain, (Dr. Dan Siegel)and nervous system regulation and coregulation. The training also covers vicarious trauma, practitioner wellbeing, and the Drama Triangle (Steven Karpman)/Empowerment Triangle (David Emerald), helping you recognise unhelpful dynamics and stay grounded and boundaried.
With breakout rooms, lived experience, and meaningful discussion, this training invites reflection and integration. It supports reflexology therapists to move beyond technique into truly trauma-responsive work meeting clients where they are, and never leaving them there without retraumatizing, instead leaving clients grounded, balanced and relaxed.
Please note: Due to the sensitives of the topics being discussed, this online Workshop will NOT be recorded.
About the Presenter
Alexandra Dunn is a Registered Canadian Reflexology Therapist, a Trauma-Informed Integrative Counsellor, and Equine-Facilitated Coach who brings together therapeutic presence, nervous-system awareness, and holistic practice in deeply human ways. With a background in counselling, somatic work, and reflexology, Alexandra specializes in helping practitioners understand not just ‘what’ they do with clients, but ‘how’ they do it through safety, attunement, and regulation.
Her work is rooted in the belief that the body holds both story and wisdom. Alexandra supports reflexology therapists to work with greater sensitivity to trauma, stress, and the subtle cues of the nervous system, so that sessions become spaces of genuine safety rather than just technique.
Drawing on her own personal healing journey and years of professional experience, she teaches with warmth, depth, and authenticity.
Alexandra is passionate about empowering reflexology therapists to feel confident, grounded, and trauma-aware in their practice, meeting clients where they are but never leaving them in that place, without rushing, fixing, or bypassing.
Her training blends education, reflection, and embodied learning, and mindful honest discussions offering practitioners a way to slow down, listen more deeply, and work in a way that truly honours both practitioner and client.
